South Carolina is currently facing MAJOR laws concerning pet ownership.

SC State Bills to Watch
The bills below were introduced in 2007 and have so far been sitting idly. We will continue to monitor them and alert you if they come back in the 2008 session.

233- Dangerous Animals- Another bill stalled in 2007 that needs to be watched closely. It gives AC the authority to "seize & impound a dangerous animal" during an investigation.
716-Animal Control Officers- Dangerous grounds here, while put on hold last year, if passed this year would give AC powers they should not have.

SC Bills Needing Our Action:
The bills listed below need our attention NOW, please contact the SC senate and let them know what YOU want!!
3813- Animal Ecological Terrorism Act- This bill stalled in 2007, but this is something that needs to be supported!!
234- Homeowners Insurance- This bill would not allow insurance companies to deny homeonwners' coverage based solely on the presence of the dog(s) they own.
1260- Provisions for cost of Animal Care Act of 2008 - This bill would allow for your arrest without warrant and seizure of your animals.

To keep track of these, or other STATE bills, please visit: SC State Web Site. You can either search by above bill numbers or keywords for proposed bills. You can find contact information for the sponsors/supporters of each bill there.
